Periwinkle Park

We created a “Blue Line” on Street View for this iconic Sanibel location. All images were recorded using the Insta360 Pro on our custom backpack a.k.a “The Trekker”.

Here is what things looked like before our visit (park is in green):

And now with our Street View updates – a navigable blue line runs right down the middle:

Here is a live look on Google Maps:

Pond Apple Park Sanibel FL

One of Sanibel Islands best kept secrets is a hiking trail that parallels Periwinkle Way just as you enter the island from the bridge and causeway. It had never been mapped in Google Street View so we put on our Trekker backpack and set out to show the world what the Pond Apple Park trail is all about.

Here is the approximate location of the trail in red:

And here is the trail with our contributions:

Check it out live on Google Maps:

DuPont Environmental Education Center

In August 2018 we traveled to the Wilmington, Delaware waterfront with a goal of blue lining the DuPont Environmental Education Center hiking trail and boardwalk. Here is what Google Maps displayed before our visit:

After hiking all the trails and submitting our images the map was updated and now looks like this:

Success! You can traverse the entire trail here:

Graffiti Highway Centrailia

The town of Centralia, PA caught fire in 1962 and was subsequently demolished around 1990. Not much was left behind. The highway that ran through town was rerouted and old Route 61 became known as Graffiti Highway. I reviewed Google Street view before visiting and noticed that the images provided were woefully out of date. This iconic attraction deserved an update on Google Maps.

Here is a quick aerial shot to lend some perspective to the project and location:

Getting Graffiti Highway on the map:

Street View before visit – a few disconnected spherical panoramas from multiple sources scattered around the map (click to enlarge)
Shortly after initial upload – lots of fresh 360 photo spheres show up (click to enlarge)
Final Result – After 24 hours the blue line is established and navigable through Street View: (click to enlarge)

Dennis Beach Studios

In less than 24 hours we were able to take Wilmington Artist Dennis Beach from total invisibility in Google Search, Maps, and Street View to a full fledged listing including:

  • Knowledge Card in Google search results
  • Correct business address in Google Maps
  • 10 newly published 360 panoramas inside his studio work space and gallery

We also updated the Street View since his office was in the back of a industrial park and had never been part of Google Maps.

Bellevue State Park

Our North Wilmington neighborhood  is home to Bellevue State Park – a great public resource with several miles of multi-use trials. We decided to update some of these trails for Google Maps and Street View:

Before Street View
After Street View Images Submitted to Google Maps
